The SIMONE is currently the only one in this style of easel made of true mahogany. Other similar easels sell under a ficticious name and are made of cheap pine completely inferior to ours. The problem you run into with this light weight easel from J.R. is that it will wabble. This poor quality easel has canvas holders that will not stay in place because the hardware is poorly manufactured. This competitors product line is particularly scary since it is manufactured out of cheap pine from Brazil and painted over to give it a finish look. When we rated this fake from 1-10, it rated at a 2.

Other problems associated with poor manufacturing: The paint will chip off in a matter of months and you will be left with a terrible looking easel. Be careful while you shop. Buyer beware.
